Reblogged from Geek to Geek Media!

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is the upcoming sequel to the somewhat divisive 2016 film simply titled Suicide Squad. Acclaimed Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is taking a very different approach this time around, though. The movie boasts an even bigger cast of random, throwaway characters from the DC Comics universe with the tagline “Don’t get too attached.”

In Part 1, we did a rundown of every confirmed character from the new movie, this time we’re taking a look back at some of the Suicide Squad’s heroic villains/villainous heroes that didn’t make the cut…

(A follow-up post will re-introduce some Suicide Squad heroic villains/villainous heroes you should know about but will absolutely not be in Gunn’s new no-strings-attached popcorn muncher.)

Comic Zombie Podcast #8: “Invincible” *and* “Falcon and the Winter Soldier”!

COMIC ZOMBIE – Issue #8: Invincible and Falcon and the Winter Soldier!

Chris and Erik discuss more Immortal Hulk comics, rumors surrounding the new John Stewart “Green Lantern” film as well as the HBO Max live action ‘Green Lantern Corps’ series, the “New Mutants” movie, the new “Mortal Kombat” movie, and finally we do a deep dive into both “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” (Disney +) and the all new “Invincible” animated series (Amazon Prime) based on the comics by Robert Kirkman!

*NOTE: We are painfully aware that Peyton Reed is NOT directing the upcoming MCU Fantastic Four feature film; at one point he was rumored for the position which excited us, but the actual director for the upcoming film is the director of the newest Spider-Man films, Jon Watts. For shame.

MORTAL KOMBAT: Who’s who? (Round 4)

Reblogged from Geek to Geek Media!

With the release of “MORTAL KOMBAT” (2021) now in theaters and on HBO Max, we figured what better way to prep than to do a deep dive into the rich mythology and ever-evolving backstories of this epic video game franchise? (Check out Rounds One, Two, and Three here!)

In 2011, the 9th game in the series, simply titled “Mortal Kombat” was a soft-reboot to the franchise, involving an alternate timeline created by Raiden to avert catastrophe. It’s sequel, “Mortal Kombat X” jumped ahead 20 years and introduced a whole new generation of fighters, while “Mortal Kombat 11” brought back some fan favorites from the franchise’s history with an epic time bending story.

MORTAL KOMBAT: Who’s who? (Round 1)

This article first appeared on GeekToGeekMedia.com

With the upcoming release of “MORTAL KOMBAT” (2021) in theaters and on HBO Max on Friday, April 23rd, we figured what better way to prep than to do a deep dive into the rich mythology and ever-evolving backstories of this epic video game franchise?

In the original, somewhat controversial kontroversial 1992 arcade classic (created by Ed Boon and John Tobias), the evil sorcerer, Shang Tsung, hosts a tournament on a mystical island to determine the fate of Earthrealm. The game was revolutionary at the time, featuring 7 playable fighters who were all brought to life with digitized frames of live action actors. The game has since spawned 10 sequels, spin-offs, komics, action figures, kartoons, and three live action films.

As one of the longest-lived fighting game franchises ever, Mortal Kombat has always had a large, diverse, colorful cast of characters- sorry, kast of kharacters (this is exhausting). But after nearly a dozen games the sheer number of characters has exploded, and unless you’re a die hard MK fan it kan be a bit konfusing (UGH) trying to keep track of who is who and how they all relate to each other.
