“SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR” (VOL 2) – Revisited

Click here for Vol 1: The Hard Goodbye!

“Do us both a favor and stay still long enough for me to blow your brains out.” – Ava Lord

“A DAME TO KILL FOR”

Frank Miller’s “Sin City” comics continued in 1993 with “A Dame to Kill For”, a mystery featuring a private investigator, Dwight McCarthy, who becomes ensnared in a plot involving his ex-fiancé, Ava Lord. The story takes place parallel to “The Hard Goodbye” and even includes appearances by Marv!

“SIN CITY: THE HARD GOODBYE” (VOL 1) – Revisited

“Well, I’m gonna find that son of a bitch that killed you, and I’m gonna give him the hard goodbye. Walk down the right back alley in Sin City, and you can find anything.” – Marv

After having revisited all six volumes of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s “Scott Pilgrim” graphic novels, I decided to jump back into another one of my all time favorite ‘indie’ comic book series: Frank Miller’s “Sin City”!

Frank Miller’s Sin City

“Sin City” is a neo-noir anthology series. It’s basically Frank Miller’s ode to the works of the great pulp crime novels and detective yarns. Sin City aggressively leans into the tropes of the entire film noir genre, but it’s also wholly unique in it’s style and storytelling, thanks entirely to the incredible talent of writer/artist Frank Miller. It’s easily one of the most iconic works of Miller’s career, a career filled to the brim with some of the greatest graphic novels of the era: “300”, “The Dark Knight Returns”, and “Daredevil: Born Again” just to name a few.

The Curious Case of D.B. Cooper: The FBI’s Greatest Unsolved Mystery (Epik Fails of History)

Reblogged from EpikFails.com

The ‘D.B. Cooper’ Incident: November 24th, 1971

“D.B. Cooper” is easily one of the most confounding mysteries of the 20th century. The mysterious hijacker who got away with $200,000 has proven to be just as elusive as Big Foot or the Loch Ness Monster. So much so that after 45 years, the FBI finally closed the door on the case back in 2016! If the freaking Federal Bureau of Investigation gives up, you know it’s probably not getting solved by some random podcaster in his basement. Even Sherlock Holmes himself would have had trouble with this one…

A “Brief” Recap of the MCU Timeline (Part Four: INFINITY WAR / ENDGAME)

Click here for Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of our MCU Breakdown!

Everything’s led to this – the Russo Brothers’ epic finale to the Infinity Saga: “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”! This two-part storyline builds on ALL the MCU movies that came before, from Phases 1 through 3, and works best if you’ve seen all the Marvel movies leading up to it, from “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Iron Man” to “Guardians of the Galaxy – Vol 2” and “Thor: Ragnarok”. And it all cleverly sets up where the MCU currently is in Phase 4, with all the new MCU movies and shows! (now streaming on Disney Plus)

If you somehow haven’t watched these two, be warned that there are some serious *spoilers* ahead!

The most ambitious crossover ever? Absolutely.

A “Brief” Recap of the MCU Timeline (Part Three: CIVIL WAR)

Check out Part One and Part Two here!

Previously on The Infinity Saga: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes assembled to fight off an alien invasion, SHIELD was infiltrated by Hydra, Loki faked his death before taking Odin’s place on Asgard, the Guardians of the Galaxy took down Star Lord’s real father (Ego the Living Planet), Tony Stark accidentally created Ultron, and it was revealed that a cosmic despot called Thanos is seeking the six Infinity Stones! So far we’ve encountered 4 of them: the Tesseract – a mysterious cosmic cube of infinite energy, the Aether – a dark matter substance that can alter reality, the Power Stone – an incredibly powerful weapon that can wipe out planets, and the Mind Stone – which gave Wanda Maximoff her powers, and brought The Vision to life…

This time, we’ll be covering most of “Phase 3”, which mostly centers around the events and fallout from “Captain America: Civil War”, and leading up to “Avengers: Infinity War”!

REVISITING “SCOTT PILGRIM’S FINEST HOUR!” (VOL 6)

Reblogged from Geek to Geek Media!

Check out my previous review of Vol 5: “Scott Pilgrim vs The Universe” here!

About a year ago, I first started my six-part nostalgia-laden review of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim graphic novels (read Part One here!) and had an absolute blast revisiting each of these amazing books with the gorgeous Color Editions from Oni Press. At the time, I had no idea that a year later Netflix would be announcing an upcoming anime series based on the original comics, which is really fitting, especially considering the heavy Japanese manga influence throughout each of the volumes!

I really enjoyed revisiting this series and it held up surprisingly well for me. I have to admit, I was hesitant to read Volume 6, because I didn’t want it to be over. I’m glad I finally did though, because “Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour” might really be the best one in the series!
