Continue reading“LOKI” Episode One – Review
Marvel’s new “LOKI” series is a wild, off-the-rails, jaunt through time – once again starring Tom Hiddleston as the Asgardian Trickster God himself. Following this first episode and the success of “Wandavision” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, I think it’s safe to say that the MCU is *still* going strong on Disney+!
LOKI 101
For those who somehow don’t already know, Loki is a supervillain in the pages of Marvel comics (first appearing in ‘Journey Into Mystery’ #85, 1962), loosely based on the Norse deity of the same name, he’s the adopted son of Odin, and brother to his greatest adversary, Thor – the God of Thunder. He was also the first villain to fight the Avengers in “The Avengers” #1 in 1963! In the comics, like in Norse Mythology, Loki has taken on a number of forms throughout the years, including a female persona. While Loki has an array of powers, including shape-shifting and conjuring illusions, his most cunning weapon is his mind and his innate ability to persuade and manipulate others for his own ends.

COMIC ZOMBIE – Issue #8: Invincible and Falcon and the Winter Soldier!
Chris and Erik discuss more Immortal Hulk comics, rumors surrounding the new John Stewart “Green Lantern” film as well as the HBO Max live action ‘Green Lantern Corps’ series, the “New Mutants” movie, the new “Mortal Kombat” movie, and finally we do a deep dive into both “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” (Disney +) and the all new “Invincible” animated series (Amazon Prime) based on the comics by Robert Kirkman!
*NOTE: We are painfully aware that Peyton Reed is NOT directing the upcoming MCU Fantastic Four feature film; at one point he was rumored for the position which excited us, but the actual director for the upcoming film is the director of the newest Spider-Man films, Jon Watts. For shame.

REVISITING “SCOTT PILGRIM & THE INFINITE SADNESS” (VOL 3)
Reblogged from Geek to Geek Media!
Check out my previous review of Vol2: “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” here!
Scott Pilgrim and the Awkward Silence…
Vol 3 of the Scott Pilgrim saga picks up where we left off last time with The Clash at Demon Head concert, where Scott and Ramona realized that Envy’s bass player / boyfriend is in fact the same Todd that Ramona used to date! For those keeping track, in the movie version this whole volume was basically summed up in one scene: the fight between Scott Pilgrim (23 year old, indecisive loser-hero hybrid) and the Vegan-powered Todd!
Immediately after the concert, Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, Knives Chau, Kim Pine, and the others are invited back stage with Envy Adams and Todd Ingram to stare each other down. There’s some fun character interactions going here, and you almost need a flow chart to keep track of it all. Scott’s dating Ramona. Knives is currently dating Young Neil. Envy is with Todd. Scott used to date Knives but broke her heart. Scott also used to date Envy, but got his own heart broke. Knives previously fought Ramona over Scott. Ramona dated Todd briefly.
During this super awkward exchange, Knives jumps up in realization shouting “I’ve kissed the lips that kissed you!” and immediately gets her highlights punched out of her hair, by a chick with a bionic arm! During the exchange, Envy seems to get jealous of Ramona and starts to taunt her about her past. That’s when Scott just loses it and decides to start Round 3 early, yelling at Todd: “That’s it! That is it. You cocky cock! You will pay for your crimes against humanity!!!” – but just as Scott’s leaping through the air at Todd, his eyes start glowing and his hair goes super saiyan!

MORTAL KOMBAT: Who’s who? (Round 4)
Reblogged from Geek to Geek Media!
With the release of “MORTAL KOMBAT” (2021) – now in theaters and on HBO Max, we figured what better way to prep than to do a deep dive into the rich mythology and ever-evolving backstories of this epic video game franchise? (Check out Rounds One, Two, and Three here!)
In 2011, the 9th game in the series, simply titled “Mortal Kombat” was a soft-reboot to the franchise, involving an alternate timeline created by Raiden to avert catastrophe. It’s sequel, “Mortal Kombat X” jumped ahead 20 years and introduced a whole new generation of fighters, while “Mortal Kombat 11” brought back some fan favorites from the franchise’s history with an epic time bending story.
